IGNITION SYSTEM
TROUBLESHOOTING
Inspect the following before diagnosing the system Faulty spark plug Loose spark plug cap or spark plug wire connection Water got into the direct ignition coil (leaking the ignition coil secondary voltage) If there is no spark at cylinder, temporarily exchange the direct ignition coil with known-good one and perform the spark testIf there is spark, the exchanged direct ignition coil is faulty
No spark at all plugs
Direct ignition coil signal voltage Unusual condition No peak voltage Probable cause (Check in numerical order) 1The multimeter impedance is too low; below 10 M#DCV2Cranking speed is too slow (battery is undercharged)3The sampling timing of the tester and measured pulse were not synchronized(System is normal if the measured voltage is over the standard voltage at least once 4Open or short circuit in the direct ignition coil signal wire (No1: Yellowgreen, No2: Bluewhite, No3: Brown white, No4: White)5Faulty peak voltage adaptor6Faulty ignition pulse generator(Measure peak voltage 7Faulty ECM (when No1 through are normal)1Open circuit in the direct ignition coil power input (Black white) wire2Open circuit in the direct ignition coil ground (Green) wire1The multimeter impedance is too low; below 10 M#DCV2Cranking speed is too slow (battery under charged)3The sampling timing of the tester and measured pulse were not synchronized(System is normal if the measured voltage is over the standard voltage at least once 4Faulty ignition pulse generator (when No1 through are normal)1Faulty peak voltage adaptor2Faulty ignition pulse generator
