FUEL SYSTEM (Programmed Fuel Injection)
FUEL PUMP RELAY
INSPECTION
Remove the passenger grab rail (page 3-5)Disconnect the relay box 2P red connectorCheck the connector for loose contacts or corroded terminals2P RED CONNECTOR
SIGNAL LINE Check for continuity between the Gray wire terminal of the wire harness side connector and ground There should be no continuity with the safety lanyard clip removedIf there is continuity, check for short circuit in the Gray wire between the relay box and ECM Fit the safety lanyard clip to the base of the engine stop switchThere should be continuity for few secondsIf there is no continuity, check for an open circuit in the Gray wire between the relay box and ECMGray
WIRE HARNESS SIDE 2P CONNECTOR (viewed from the terminal side) RELAY COIL POWER INPUT LINE Fit the safety lanyard clip to the base of the engine stop switchMeasure the voltage between the Redyellow wire terminal of the wire harness side connector and groundThere should be battery voltageIf there is no voltage, check the following: open circuit in the Redyellow wire between the relay box and fuse box sub-fuse (7.5 A) open circuit in the Redblack wire between the relay box and fuse box main relay and its circuit (page 19-19) FUNCTION TEST With the safety lanyard clip removed, disconnect the relay box 6P connectorConnect an ohmmeter to the relay box side 6P connector terminalsCONNECTION: Redyellow Blackorange Connect fully charged 12V battery to the relay box side 2P connector terminalsCONNECTION: Redyellow (+) Grayblue () There should be continuity while the 12V battery is connected to the relay box connector terminals and there should be no continuity when the battery is disconnectedRELAY BOX SIDE CONNECTORS (viewed from the terminal side) Redyellow Redyellow Grayblue
