2Adjust: Shift control cable Adjusting steps: (1)Move the shift handle so the shift rod lever is in the neutral position(2)Remove the locknut 2(3)Set the shift handle to the neutral positionThen, hold it in this position(4)Adjust the shift control cable to the proper length with the adjusting nut 4(5)Install the locknut and tighten it(6)Move the shift handle to the forward, neutral, and reverse positions and make sure it shifts smoothly and correctlyIf the shifting operations unsmooth or incorrect, repeat the above procedure
