Propeller shaft shim 1) Find the propeller shaft shim (T4) by selecting shims until the propeller shaft free play is within specificationsPropeller Shaft Free Play: 0.30 0.05 mm 2) Before measuring the propeller shaft free play, make sure that the forward gear taper roller bearing outer race is fully installed in the bearing housingDo this by temporarily installing the propeller shaft housing assembly (without the large O-ring) into the lower unit housing, and tightening the ring nut to the specified torqueAfter tightening, remove the ring nut and propeller shaft housing assemblyRing Nut: 190 Nm (19 m.kg, 137 ft.lb) 3) Clamp the propeller shaft housing so that only the housing is supported, and measure the free playas shown
