Primary coil test
Test by pulling the starter handleNOTE_

To install the clip on the high-tension cable, remove the plug cap and clip on the core wires of the cableWires (conductor) can also be inserted into the plug cap as shown and clipped on1Connect the secondary lead wire of the Coil Tester to the ignition coil as shown
Standard value: Primary coil resistance: 0.09n 15 at 20 (68 F) Secondary coil resistance: 3.5 kn 15 at 20 (68 F) NOTE: Measure the resistance of the ignition coil and, if either primary coil or the secondary coil resistance is far off specification, replace the ignition coil If the resistance measured is slightly off specification, install the ignition coil onto the eng ine and check spark strengthIgnition spark gap testWARNING: Be careful not to touch the ignition coil and its vicinity while performing testingAn electric shock may cause injuryNOTE: To perform spark test it is recomended that the Coil Tester be used as this manual starter model is not provided with batteryTo check the strength of spark using an Electro Tester requires 12-volt battery as opposed to Coil Tester, with which spark tests can readily be performed on any manual starter modelThe coil tester can be ordered through Yamaha dealerships under part NoYU332612
