Reed valve assembly
1Inspect the reed petals for signs of
fatigue cracksThe reed petals should fit flush or nearly flush against neoprene seatsIf in doubt as to sealing ability, apply suction to carburetor side of assemblyLeakage should be slight to moderate2Check valve stopper clearanceIf beyond tolerance, adjust stopper or replace as requiredValve stopper clearance: 5.4 mm (0.21 in) If it is 0.3 mm (0.012 in) more or less than specified, replace the valve stopper
Removal As shown, hold the upper and lower bearings with the bearing separator, and force out the crankshaft with press
When removing the crankshaft, hold it by hand so that it will not fall off

Installation Place the plate under the connecting rod big end for the upper cylinder (or the lower cylinder), slip the bearing over the crankshaft, and pressfit the bearing
