Piston pin and bearings1Apply light film of oil to pin and bearing surfacesInstall in connecting rod small end to inspect for wearCheck for play There should be no noticeable vertical playIf play exists, check connecting rod small end for wearReplace pin, connecting rod andor bearing, as required
Check the connecting rod side clearance at big endIf axial play exceeds tolerance, disassemble the crankshaft and replace any worn partsBig end axial play should be within specificationRod side clearance Minimum .20 mm (0.008 in) Maximum 0.30 mm (0 .012 in)

3 Crankshaft runout aSupport the crankshaft at both ends on V-blocksRotate the crankshaft in the V-blocks, and measure the runout at the main bearing journalsUse dial gaugebCheck crankshaft assembly runout (misalignment of crakshaft parts)Dial gauge readings should be within specificationCorrect any misalignment by tapping the flywheel with brass hammer andor by using wedgeDeflection tolerance Left side
