9-10 TRIM AND TILT To install:
7Insure the mating surfaces of the motor and manifold are clean8Install new O-ring and position the drive joint in place9Check the level of fluid in the gear pump areaAdd fluid until the filter is covered10Position the motor in place, insuring the drive joint is fully inserted into the gear pump assembly When installing the motor, insure the tip of the armature shaft is firmly snugged into the drive jointDouble check this alignment prior to tightening the attaching screws111213141516Install and securely tighten the motor-to-pump attaching screws Connect the trimltilt motor wiring harnessInstall the trimltilt assembly if removedLower the outboardBleed the trimltilt hydraulic systemCheck the trimltilt system for proper operationExternal Pump Fig15 Typical integral pump trimttilt system used on V4 or V6 outboard

On some models it may be necessary to remove the trimltilt assembly prior to removing the trimltilt motor3Using jumper cables, momentarily make contact between the disconnected leads and fully charged battery Make the contact only as long as necessary to hear the electric motor rotating4Reverse the leads on the battery posts and again listen for the sound of the motor rotatingThe motor should rotate with the leads making contact with the battery in either direction5If the motor operates properly, the problem may be in the trimltilt switch or associated wiring6If the motor does not operate as specified, it may be faultyRaise the outboard to the full tilt position and safely support it in this position2Remove the trimltilt assembly as necessary to gain access to the trimltilt motor3Label and disconnect the trimltilt motor wiring harness4Remove motor-to-pump attaching screws5Lift the motor from the manifold, noting the position of the drive joint and the O-ring prior to removing them6Discard the O-ring To install: 7Insure the mating surfaces of the motor and manifold are clean8Install new O-ring and position the drive joint in place9Check the level of fluid in the gear pump areaAdd fluid until the filter is
