5-34 IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS 8Connect each of the ECU leads to the positive tester probe and ground the negative test probe9Crank the engine using the electric starterDO NOT crank the engine for more than 20 seconds at time10Peak voltage measured at the CD-77 should be 104 volts or overMake each measurement at least three times and if the voltage is too low, the ECU will need to be replacedTo install: 7When installing the CDIIignition coil unit, measure the clearance between the flywheel magneto and the ignition unitClearance should measure 0.016 in(0.4 mm)DT4 and DT5Y 1Remove the engine cover2Disconnect the spark plug lead3Disconnect the CDI leads and remove the retaining bolt4Remove the CDI unitTo install: 5Install the CDI unitMake sure that the ground wire is connected and the retaining bolt is tightened6Connect the CDI unit leads making sure they are tight and corrosion free7Connect the spark plug wire8Install the engine coverDT6 and DT8
