IGNITION AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS 5-29 3Connect the CDI test cord to the tester4Connect the AIC cord to power outlet5Connect the CDI tester, CDI test cord and CDI unit as illustrated When checking the ignition coil assembly with plug cap left detached, insert the spark plug wire directly into the tester without using the attachment "A"05005G64
Failure to connect this ground lead "2" wire may cause an electric shock upon touching the testerStep 3
voltage selector (IOOv, 117v, 220v and 240v)If the selector socket is not set at the proper voltage range, remove the fuse and pull out the voltage selector and reinsert into the unit so that the proper voltage scale is visible in the cutaway3Disconnect the CDI unit leads and install the test leads in their place, 4Connect the CDI unit to test lead to the tester5Plug the tester into power outlet6Push the "Test" buttonBoth the power light and the CDI indicator light should come onThis indicates that the CDI unit is functioning correctlyIf the power light is ON and the CDI indicator light is OFF, the CDI unit is not functioning correctly and needs to be replacedIf both lights are OFF, check the fuse (replace if blown) and the AIC power source DT6 and DT8
Turn the main switch "3" of the tester to the ON positionTurning the switch "4" to the "CDI TEST" side, check if spark occurs across the needles in the indicator window "5"If the soark occurs, it means that the CDI unit is functioning normallyIf there is no spark indicated, the CDI unit is not operating normally and will need to be replaced DT9.9, DT15, DT25 and DT30

Obtain CDI tester (09930-99830) and CDI test cord (DT9.915:09930-88910; DT25130: 09930-89630)ON: Meter reading should be 100k ohms or less OFF: Meter reading should be more than 100k ohms CON: The meter pointer swings slightly and immediately return to the original positionWatch the meter carefullyIf you have failed to see the pointer moving, wait for about 10 minutes and repeat the test -
