FUEL SYSTEM 4-39 To install: 4Replace the gasket or O-ring as equipped5Connect the sensor lead connector securely6Install the sensor on the engine7Replace the engine cover8Connect the battery negative cableDESCRIPTIONOPERATION
The atmospheric pressure sensor is located above the throttle body and measures the ambient air pressure in which the engine is operatingAs pressure affects the sensors ability to conduct voltage, the sensor voltage signal returning to the ECU is used as measure of current air pressureAs altitude changes, atmospheric pressure changes, this affects the air portion of the fuellair mixtureThe ECU map then compensates for these changes by effecting pressure based change in fuel injection durationFor example, an engine operating at sea level with more air pressure requires richer fuel mixture than an engine operating in lower air pressure at 5,000 feet altitudeCylinder wall
