REMOVALINSTALLATION

Remove the carburetor assembly Disconnect any hose attached to the intake manifold
On some models, the reed valve assembly is secured by separate faStenersOn models with this design, the intake manifold must first be removed in order to remove the reed valve and gasket assembly1Check the reeds for sign of cracking, wear or any other damageReplace the reeds if any damage is found2Check the reeds to see if they lie flat on the valve seat with no preload on them3To check the flatness of the reed, gently push each reed out from the seatConstant resistance should be felt while pushing the reed4Check the clearance between the reed and the seat with feeler gaugeIf the clearance is greater than 0.008 in(0.20 mm), you will need to replace the reed set5Measure the distance between the reed stop and the valve seatIf the measurement is not within specifications, check the valve seat for warpage and replace it as requiredIf the seat is okay, replace the reed stop assemblyREEDREED STOP REPLACEMENT
