9Remove the pilot jet10Remove the main iet11Inspect the main jet for damage or debris blocking the orificeLook closely and you can read the jet number stamped on the jet itself12Invert the mixing chamber and shake it, keeping hand over the center turretThe main nozzle should fall free from the turretIf the nozzle refuses to out, gently reach in with pick or similar instrument to raise the nozzle1 Obtain the correct size thin walled socket and remove the valve seatRemove and discard the O-ring14Remove the two Phillips head screws securing the top cover to the top of the mixing chamberLift off the cover15Remove the pilot screw and spring from the carburetorCount and record the number of turns in to lightly seated position as guide for installationThe specific number of turns will also be specified in the installation proceduresburrs which might cause leakCheck the float for deteriorationCheck to be sure the needle valve spring has not been stretchedIf any part of the float is damaged, the float must be replacedCheck the needle valve rubber tip contacting surface and replace the needle valve if this surface has groove worn in itInspect the tapered section of the pilot screw and replace the screw if it has developed grooveAs previously mentioned, most of the parts which should be replaced during carburetor overhaul are included in an overhaul kit available from your local marine dealerOne of these kits will contain matched fuel inlet needle and seatThis combination should be replaced each time the carburetor is disassembled as precaution against leakageASSEMBLY
