Good shop practice dictates carburetor repair kit be purchased and new parts be installed any time the carburetor is disassembledMake an attempt to keep the work area organized and to cover parts after they have been cleanedThis practice will prevent foreign matter from entering passageways or adhering to critical parts1Remove the port and starboard engine coversStep 5
same number of turns recorded during disassemblyIf the number of turns was not recorded, back the screw out turns as rough adjustmentIdle speed should be as specified in the "Tune-up Specifications" chart9Install the two halves of the cowling around the powerhead10Secure the enaine coverMount the outboard unit in test tank, or the boat in body of water, or connect flush attachment and hose to the lower unitStart the engine and check the completed workAllow the powerhead to warm to normal operating temperatureAdjust the idle speed to specificationDISASSEMBLY

1With the carburetor on clean working surface, remove the screws securing the fuel float bowl to the carburetor bodyDiscard the float bowl gasket2With the fuel petcock lever in the OFF position (marked "S"), remove the fuel hose from the carburetor fitting and plug the hose to prevent fuel from leaking3Loosen the choke knob set screw and remove the knob from the control panel3
