3-2 MAINTENANCE chamber deposits, avoid detonation and prolong spark plug lifeIf Suzuki CCI oil or NMMA certified lubricant is unavailable, use only 2-stroke outboard oil Remember, it is this oil, mixed with the gasoline that lubricates the internal parts of the engineLack of lubrication due to the wrong mix or improper type of oil can cause catastrophic powerhead failureSuzuki uses engine serial numbers and models numbers for identification purposesThese numbers are stamped on plates riveted to the port side transom bracket or to the starboard side of the support plateThis information identifies the specific engine and will indicate to the owner or service technician if there are any unique parts or if any changes have been made to that particular model during its production runThe serial and models number should be used any time you order replacement partsFor more information, refer to the "Serial Number Identification" and the 'General Engine Specifications" charts at the end of this sectionOIL RECOMMENDATIONS
See Figures and 2
Use only Suzuki CC1 oil or NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) certified 2-stroke lubricantsThese oils are proprietary lubricants designed to ensure optimal engine performance and to minimize combustion
There are two methods of adding 2-stroke oil to an outboardThe first is the pre-mix method used on outboards up to horsepower and on some commercial modelsThe second is the automatic oil injection method which automatically injects the correct quantity of oil into the engine for all operating conditions Pre-Mix
