Suzuki DT115DT140 (Prior to 1986) Renew reeds if petals are broken, cracked, warpedrusted or bentNever attempt to bend or straighten damaged reed petalNever install bent or damaged petalSeating surface of reed plate should be smooth and flatReed petals should be centered over inlet ports in reed plate and reed stops should be centered over reed petalsWhen reassembling reed valve assemblies, apply suitable thread locking compound to screws securing reed petals and stops to reed platesFUEL PUMPA diaphragm type fuel pump is mounted on the side of the power head and is actuated by crankcase pulsationsRefer to FigSZ17-6 for exploded view of fuel pump assemblyWhen servicing pump, scribe reference marks across pump body to aid in reassemblyDefective or questionable parts should be renewedDiaphragm should be renewed if air leaks or cracks are noted, or if deterioration is evidentFUEL FILTERA fuel filter (9-FigSZI7-6) is mounted on the side of the power head on all modelsFilter should be disassembled and cleaned after every 50 hours of operationRenew filter element (12) if excessive blockage is noted
