Suzuki DT20 (1986-1988)DT25 (1985-1988) Remove top cover of electrical parts holder for access to wire connectorsRemove top three-wire connector and separateTh check charge coil (FigSZ9-7), connect tester lead to black wire with red tracer and black wire of three-wire connector leading to stator plateCharge coil is acceptable if resistance is 102-154 ohms at 20 (68 F) on models prior to 1987 and 100-160 ohms at 20 (68 F) on 1987 and later modelsTh check pulser coil, connect tester lead to red wire with white tracer and black wire of three-wire connector leading to stator platePulser coil is acceptable if resistance is 27.9-47.9 ohms at 20 (68 F) on models prior to 1987 and 40-60 ohms at 20 (68 F) on 1987 and later modelsCheck condition of battery charging coil by separating connectors of yellow wire and red wireConnect tester lead to terminal end of wires leading to stator plateBattery charging coil is acceptable if resistance is 0.24-0.36 ohms at 20 (68 F) on models prior to 1987 and 0.2-0.6 ohm at 20 (68 F) on 1987 and later modelsIf all ignition components are found acceptable in previous tests and ignition system malfunction is still evident, renew cm unit19) and plate (9) for excessive wearThrn drive shaft clockwise (viewed from top) while placing pump housing over impellerAvoid turning drive shaft in opposite direction when water pump is assembledTHERMOSTATA thermostat (7-FigSZ9-14) is used to regulate operating temperatureThe thermostat should start to open within the temperature range of 48.5-5l.5 (119-125 F)Thermostat can be removed for inspection or renewal by removing cylinder head cover (6)
