SERVICE MANUAL to aid in reassemblyTo remove gear ease, first unscrew plug (29) and drain gear lubricantRemove plug from side of lower engine cover to obtain access to shift linkageUnscrew nuts retaining shift arm (2) to shaft (4), then disengaj,'" shaft (4) from shift rod (9)Remove the cap screws securing gearcase to drive shaft housing and separate gearcase assembly from drive shaft housingRe move water pump assembly (FigSZ1415)Remove propeller with related components from propeller shaftUnscrew two screws retaining gearcase end cap (52- FigSZ1424), then attach suitable puller to propeller shaft (45) and withdraw propeller shaft assembly with gearcase end capUnscrew pinion nut (34) and remove pinion gear (31), then extract forward gear (37)Drive shaft (17) and related components may be withdrawn from gearcase after removal of bearing housing (15)
