MANUAL STARTERRefer to FigSZ1422 for exploded view of overhead type manUlll starter assembly used on some DT50 modelsStarter may be disassembled for overhaul or renewal of in dividUlll components as follows: Remove engine top cowl and three cap screws securing starter assembly to power headIf stamr spring remains under tension, pull starter rope and hold rope pulley (10) with notch in pulley adjacent to rope outletPull rope back through outlet so that it engages notch in pulley and allow pulley to slowly unwindRemove cap serew (21) and disassemble unitBe careful when removing rewind spring (8); rapidly uncoiling starter spring could cause serious injuryRewind spring is wound in counterclockwise direction in starter housingRope is wound on rope pulley in counterclockwise direction as viewed with pulley in housingReassemble starter assembly by reversing disassembly procedureTo place tension on rewind spring, pass rope through rope outlet in housing and install rope handlePull rope out and hold rope pulley so notch on pulley is adjacent to rope outletPull rope back through ouUet between notch in pulley and hous ingTurn rope pulley counterclockwise four complete revolutions to place ten sion on springDo not p]ace more
