COOLING SYSTEM
THERMOSTATA thermostat located in the cylinder head cover is used to regulate operating temperatureTest thermostat by immersing in heated water with an accurate thermometerThermostat should begin to open at 58.5-61.5 (137-143 F)Renewthermostat if it fails to open within the specified temperature rangeWhen installing thermostat, be certain bleed hole is facing direction shown in FigSZI3-17WATER PUMPA rubber impeller type water pump is mounted between the drive shaft housing and gearcaseDrive key (6-FigSZI3-18) in the drive shaft turns impeller (5)When servicing water pump, inspect condition of water passages and sealing surfacesRotate drive shaft in clockwise direction when installing pump housing (4) over impellerAvoid turning drive shaft in opposite direction after reassembling pump
