Engine General Information and Diagnosis: Troubleshooting Step Action Yes Is operation of the main relay heard when the ignition switch Go to step 4is turned "ON"? Are the main fuses (40 ampand 30 amp, (for Ignition and Go to step 3ECM), and the sub battery cable fuse (15 amp in good condition? 1) Disconnect the ECM connector at the ECM with the Go to step 4ignition switch "OFF"2) Measure the voltage between the No35 terminal of the ECM connector and body groundIs the voltage 12 (Battery Voltage)? No Go to step 2Replace 1A-21
Check the ECM main relayRefer to "ECM Main Relay Inspection" (Page 1A-42) Poor ECM main relay connection RB wire open, shorted or poor connection Check the ignition switchRefer to "Ignition Switch Inspection" in Section 1I (Page 1I-13) Gr, BBl, BG wire open circuit or poor connection RB wire open, shorted or poor connection
1) Turn the ignition switch "OFF"2) Connect the 36 pin test cord set between the ECM and the main wire harness3) Turn the ignition switch "ON"4) Measure the voltage between the No36 terminal and body ground, and the No15 terminal and body ground
