Remove gear housing from vise and reposition itBe sure to use soft jaw vise covers and clamp as close as possible to gear housing Place block of wood on gear housing mating surface Use mallet and carefully tap gear housing from drive shaftIf inspection determines thai replacement of drive shaft tapered bearing is required, proceed as follows:
To remove lower tapered bearingposition drive shaft assembly in press with Universal Puller Plate (91-37241) underneath lower tapered bearing Thread used pinion nut (c) partially onto pinion gear end of drive shaft and press on pinion nut only to remove lower tapered bearing from drive shaft
