Bearing Carrier Installation NOTE: When performing Step 3, rotate drive shaft clockwise (viewed from top) to mesh pinion gear with reverse gear1Place0" ring over bearing carrier and position it between bearing carrier and thrust washer2Lubricate oil seals and "0" ring with Quicksilver Bearing Assembly Lubricant3Apply light coat of Special Lubricant 101 to outside diameter of bearing carrier (where carrier contacts gear housing)4Position bearing carrier over propeller shaft and slide it into gear housing(Be sure to align bearing carrier keyway with gear housing keyway 5Push bearing carrier in as far as possible by hand, then insta ll bearing carrier key
NOTE: Bend remaining tabs into bearing carrier to reduce restriction to exhaust10Use Shift Shaft Bushing Tool (9 1-31107) and torque shift shaft bushing to 50 lbft(68.0 Nm) 11 lnstall rubber washer onto shift shaft; push washer tight against shift shaft seal
