Forward Gear (Dual Propshaft Needle Bearings) REMOVAL AND DI$A$SEMBL Y
cUse Slide Hammer (91-34569A1) to remove forward gear tapered bearing race
NOTE: Forward gear can only be removed from gear housing after drive shaft and pinion gear have been removed NOTE: The conditio afthe forward gear tapered roller bearing cup is an indication of the condition of the tapered roller bearingReplace bearing and cup if cup is pitted, grooved, scored, worn uneven, discolored from overheati ng, or has embedded particles1Reach into gear housing and lift out forward gearIMPORTANT: DO NOT remove tapered bearing or needle bearings from forward gear, unless replacement of bearings Is required(Bearings cannot be reused after they have been removed
2If inspection determines that replacement of forward gear tapered bearing is requiredremove bearing from gear and bearing race from gear housing (tapered bearing and race MUST BE replaced as set), as follows :
