Installation
AWARNING
To prevent accidental engine starting, remove (and isolate) spark plug leads from spark plugs BEFORE installing gear housing1Remove (and isolate) spark plug leads from spark plugs2Place shift linkage on engine in forward gear position3Tilt engine to fullup" position 4Place gear housing in neutralPropeller will rotate freely in either direction when gear housing is in neutral5Position shift shaft (a) as shown when measuring distance in Step 66Distance (b) [between top of water pump base and center of hole (c)l must beas specified belowTurn shift shaft clockwise to decrease distance (b) or counterclockwise to increase distance (b)
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use automotive grease in the gear housingUse only Quicksilver Super-Duty Lower Unit Lubricant1Remove any gasket material from "Fill" and "Vent" screws and gear housing2Install new gaskets onFill" and "Vent" screws
