PROPELLER SHAFT
3Remove spring (a) and sl iding clutch (b)Replace sliding clutch if jaws (c) are rounded or chipped Rounded jaws indicate one or more of the followingaImproper shift cable adjustmentbEngine idle speed too high while shifting cShifting from neutral to reverse (or forward) too slowly
1Remove retaining ring (a)

2Remove cross pin Replace cam follower if worn or pitted
4Check bushing surfaces (a) of propeller shaft for pitting or wearIf shaft is worn or pitted replace shaft and corresponding bushing 5Replace propeller shaft if any of the following exist: aSplines are twisted or wornbOil seal surface (b) is deeply grooved and is allowing water to enter gear housingcShaft has noticeable "wobble" or is bent more than .006" (.15mm)
