IMPORTANT: DO NOT remove ball bearing from crankshaft unless replacement is necessaryRefer to "Cleaning and Inspection" following Powerhead Cleaning and Inspection
Cylinder Block and Crankcase Cover
IMPORTANT: Crankcase cover and cylinder block are matched, line-bored assembly and must be replaced as set
13Remove lower crankshaft ball bearing (a) using
universal puller plate (b)suitable size mandrel (c) and press
1Thoroughly clean cylinder block and crankcase coverBe sure that all sealant and old gaskets are removed from mating surfaces Be sure that carbon deposits are removed from exhaust portsdecompression ports and cylinder dome2Inspect cylinder block and crankcase cover for cracks or fractures3Check gasket surfaces for nicks, deep grooves, cracks and distortion that could cause compression leakages4Check all water and fup.1 passages fn cylinder block and crankcase cover to be sure that they are not obstructed 5Check that all fittings and plugs are tight
