Periodic Inspection Conduct periodicsystematic inspection to uncover and correct failure before it can cause inconvenience or mechanical damageInspection interval is based on average operating conditions in utility service Under severe conditions, the inspection interval should be shortenedInspection includes: 1Clean entire unit thoroughly, including all accessi ble powerhead parts2Check entire unit for loose, damaged or missing partsTighten or replace as required 3Lubricate gear housing as instructed previously4Lubricate other points as indicated, preceding 5Service spark pi ugI nspect spark plug lead and electrical leads for damage or deteriorationas explained in Section 2A, "Ignition System 6I nspect fuel hoses for damage or deterioration and service fuel filters as indicated in Section 3A,Fuel System" 7Remove propeller and inspectTrim nicks and burrs with filebeing careful not to remove more metal than absolutely necessaryInspect for cracks, damage or bent condition If condition is doubtful, refer to authorized Quicksilver Propeller Repair Station facilities Before reinstalling propeller apply liberal coat of Quicksilver Special Lubricant 101, AntiCorrosion Grease or 2-4-C Marine Lubricant to the propeller shaft8Inspect the outboard surface finish for damage or corrosion Thoroughly clean damaged or corroded areas and apply matching paint (Quicksilver Spray Paints)9Check remote controls and steering Be sure that all connections and fittings are in good condition, properly secured and correctly adjusted
