Installing Gear Housing to Drive Shaft Housing
10Start bolt at rear of gear housing inside trim tab recess00 NOT tighten bolt at this time11 Recheck shift shaft spline engagement and correct if necessaryIMPORTANT: Do not for ce gear case up into place with attach ing nuts12Evenly tighten nuts which were started in Step Torque to 55 lbft(74.6 m) 13After nuts (located on either side of drive shaft housing) are tightenedcheck shift operation as follows: aPlace guide block anchor pin into FORWARD gear positionRotate flywheel clockwise (viewed from top)propeller shaft should rotate counterclockwisePlace guide block anchor pin into NEUT RAL positionPropeller shaft should rotate freely clockwise counterclockwisePlace guide block anchor pin into REVERSE gear position Rotate flywheel clockwise (viewed from top)propeller shaft should rotate clockwise
Disconnect high tension leads from spark plugs and
remove park plugs from engine efore installing gea r
housing into drive shaft housing1Tilt engine to full up position and engage the tilt lock lever2Apply light coat of Special Lubricant 101 onlo drive shaft splines
