Reverse Gear Assembly COMPONENT INSPECTION

REVERSE GEAR ASSEMBLY COMPONENT DISASSEMBLY NOTE: Complete the instructions in this section only if the needle bearing in the gear has been found to be defective and the reverse gear is to be reusedBearings that have become dislodged may be snapped back into positionIf this is the only problem that exists it is not necessary to replace the needle bearing1Press the reverse gear needle bearing out using suitable mandrelClean the reverse gear assembly with suitable solvent and dry thoroughly with compressed airBe careful nol to spin the bearingsInspect the gear for pitting, chipped or broken teeth, hairli ne fractures, and excessive or uneven wearplace the reverse gear if any defects are found3
Inspect the clutch jaws of the gear for damageThe surfaces must not be chipped or rounded offReplace the reverse gear if of these conditions exist
