Installing Gear Housing to Drive Shaft Housing
10Start bolt at rear of gear housing inside trim tab recessDO NOT lighten bolt at Ihis time1! Recheck shift shaft spline engagement and correct if necessaryIMPORTANT: Do not force gear case up into place with attaching nuts 12Evenly tighten nuts which were started in Step 9Torque to 55 lbft(74.6 Nm) 13After nuts (located on either side of drive shaft housing) are tightenedcheck shift operation as follows: aPlace guide block anchor pin into forward gear positionRotate flywheel clockwise (viewed from top)propeller shaft should rotate clockwisePlace guide block anchor pin into NEUTRAL positionPropeller shaft should rotate freely clockwise counterclockwisePlace guide block anchor pin into REVERSE gear positionRotate flywheel clockwise (viewed from top)propeller shaft should rotate counterclockwise
Disconnect high tension leads from spar plugs and remove spark plugs from engine before installing gear housing into drive shaft housing
1Tilt engine to full up position and engage the tilt lock lever2Apply light coat of Special Lubricant 101 onto drive
