7 Inspect the propeller shaft for bent conditionaV-Blocks and Dial Indicator (1 Position the propeller shaft bearing surfaces on Vblocks(2 Adjust the height of V-blocks to level the propeller shaft(3 Position the dial indicator lip just forward of the propeller shaft splines
Forward Gear Assembly
COMPONENT INSPECTION 1Clean the forward gear assembly and the forward gear bearing cup with suitable solvent and dry with compressed airBe careful not to spin the bearings2Inspect the gear for pitting, chipped or broken teeth, hairline fractures, and excessive or uneven wearB.e place the forward gear and the pinion gear as set if any defects are foundInspect the clulch jaws of the gear for damageThe surfaces must nol be chipped or rounded offBe:Jll.itce both the forward and pinion gear as set if any of these conditions existRotate the propeller shaft and observe the dial indicator movement, If the indicator in the dial moves more than 0.01 in (0.254 mm)replace the propeller shaftbCheck Movement with Dial Indicator (PIN 91-58222Al )
