bInstall NEGATIVE brushes (along with brush holder) 456
Lubricate bushing in drive end plate with drop of SAE lOW oilPosition armature into starter frameLubricate bushing (located in commutator end cap) with one drop of SAE lOW oilDO NOT overlubricale
a POSITIVE (+)BrushesNEGATIVE (-) Brushes Brush HolderBolts (Fasten NEGATIVE Brushes and Holder)

aBushing (DO NOT overlubricate)
If removed, reinstall parts on armature shaftUse new locknut and tighten securely on end of shaftTo prevent damage to brushes and springs when installing commutator end cap, it is recommended that brush retaining tool be made as shown :
