Forward Gear 1Inspect forward gear teeth for rust, chippingexcessive wear (teeth are sharped edged), or broken teeth
4Use suitable mandrel to press needle bearing out of forward gear
2Inspect forward gear clutch jaws for wearRounded jaws indicate the following: aImproper shift cable adjustmentbEngine idle speed too high
cShifting too slowly
aMandrel (14mm socket)Bearing

5Use Driver 91-826872 to press new needle bearing into forward gearPress on NUMBERED side of bearing

3Inspect propeller shaft forward gear bearing sur

face to determine condition of forward gear
needle bearingIf bearing surface is discolored (from lack of lubricant), pitted or worn, propeller shaft and bearing should be replaced
