5Inspect the surface of the propeller shaft where the bearing carrier seal lips contact the shaftIf the oil seals have made grooves, replace propeller shaft and seals Reverse Gear Assembly
COMPONENT INSPECTION
1Clean the reverse gear assembly with suitable solvent and dry thoroughly with compressed airBe careful not to spin the bearings2Inspect the gear for pitting, chipped or broken teeth, hairline fractures, and excessive or uneven wearReplace the reverse gear if any defects are found3Inspect the clutch jaws of the gear for damageThe surfaces must not be chipped or rounded offReplace the reverse gear if any of these conditions exist
