10Press the oil seal with the driver until the driver bottoms out on the bearing carrier Forward Gear Bearing Adaptor Assembly
INSPECTION
1Thoroughly clean the forward gear bearing adaptor with suitable solvent and dry it using compressed airNOTE: The condition of the bearing surfaces on the forward gear in the areas that the bearings of the bearing adaptor and the thrust bearing rides, is an indication of the condition of the respective bearingsReplace the bearing(s) if the surface of the gear and or the thrust washer is pitted, grooved, scored, worn unevenly, discolored from overheating or has embedded metal particles2Assemble the forward gear to the bearing adaptorInspect them for excessive movement or roughness by rotating the gear in the adaptorReplace the bearing in the adaptor if either of these conditions exist3Inspect the adaptor for other signs of excessive wear or damageReplace the adaptor if any are found
