3Inspect the shift shaft splines and oil seal surface for corrosion andor excessive wearReplace the shift shaft if either if these conditions are found SHIFT SHAFT ASSEMBLYComponent Reassembly
NOTE: Complete the instructions in this section only if the assembly components have been disassembled and repaired or replaced
1Lightly lubricate the seats of the O-ring diameters on the bushing and the lip of the oil seal with 2-4-C wfTeflon (92-825407A12)2If the speedometer connector was removed and or replaced, lightly coat the threads of the conwith Quicksilver Perfect Seal nector (91-34277-1)Assemble the speedometer connector to the bushing and torque the connector to 4.5 lbin(0.51 Nm)3Assemble all components as shown below
