3Thread cap onto tilt tube up to mark (a) made on tilt tube Steering Link Rod Installed on Outboard With One Piece Steering Arm
AWARNING
Locknuts (a and I) must be used on pivot bolt and steering link rodNever use nut which does not have self-locking capability
INSTALLING STEERING LINK ROD 1Lubricate pivot bolt (g) and ball joint (d) with Quicksilver 2-4-C Marine LubricantAssemble steering link rod (i) to steering arm (b) 2Tighten steering pivot bolt (g) into steering arm (b) until rubber bushing (e) makes contact with both washers (h), then tighten pivot bolt one additional turn to compress rubber bushing Thread locknut (a) onto end of pivot bolt and torque nut to 20 lbft (27.1 Nm) Make sure that at least 1-to-3 threads of pivot bolt are showing beyond locknut3Lubricate hole in end of steering cable (m) with Quicksilver 2-4-C Marine Lubricant and assemble steering link rod to steering cable end, as shownTighten self-locking nut (a) until it seats [DO NOT exceed 120 lbin(13.2 Nm)then back nut off 14 turnDesignLink Rod
