Removing Starter Assembly 1Remove engine cover
6Lift pulley assembly from starter housing
Always remove spark plug leads from spark plugs before working on engine2Remove three screws and one stop nut securing starter to powerhead

7Remove starter rope from pulley8Pry rewind spring cartridge from housing
Reassembling Starter
1Thread starter rope through hole in pulleyPut tight knot in the end of the rope and pull the knot into the recess in the pulleyaInterlock LinkInterlock Lever
NOTE: Tab (a) on cartridge must fit into slot on starter housingMake sure not to lose the spacer bearings in each of the mounting holes
