20Inspect bearing and oil seal surface of driveshaft for pitting, grooves, scoring, uneven wear or discoloration from overheatingIf any of the preceding conditions are found, replace driveshaft bearingsInspect driveshaft to crankshaft spline and driveshaft to pinion gear spline for wearReplace if necessary21If inspection of driveshaft determines that replacement of upper driveshaft bearing is required, using suitable mandrel, tap upper driveshaft bearing out of gear housing and into propeller shaft caVity22If necessary, remove bearing cup as follows: aFasten bearing cup puller on threaded rod as shownbTighten hex nut and draw the bearing cup puller up into bearing cup until lip on tool snaps over the top side of bearing cage
