Cylinder Block and Crankcase Cover
IMPORTANT: Crankcase cover and cylinder block are matched, line-bored assembly should not be mismatched by using different crankcase cover or cylinder block

CAUTION
Crocus cloth MUST BE USED to clean bearing surface at CRANKSHAFT END OF CONNECTING ROD320 grit Carborundum cloth MUST BE USED to clean bearing surface at PISTON PIN END OF CONNECTING RODVERIFY CAP TO ROD ALIGNMENT BEFORE TORQUING ROD BOLTSDO NOT continue to clean connecting rod bearing surfaces after marks have been removed8Clean connecting rod bearing surfaces as shown
Inspect cylinder block and crankcase cover for cracks or fracturesCheck gasket surfaces for nicks, deep grooves, cracks and distortions that could cause compression leakagesCheck that all water passages in cylinder block are not obstructedCheck locating pins in cylinder block that they are tightCheck crankcase cover fuelbleed passages that they are not obstructed
