Starter Motor Removal
Starter Motor Disassembly
1Press down the pinion stopper and remove the circlipRemove the pinion
CAUTION
Disconnect the battery leads from the battery before removing starter1Disconnect the battery leads from the battery2Disconnect the ground cables3Remove starter mounting bolts4Remove starter
aPinionPinion StopperCirclip (discard and use new circiip on assembly)
2Remove through bolts and disassemble starter motor assembly

1Clean all motor parts2Check pinion teeth for chipscracks or excessive wear3Replace the drive clutch spring andor collar, if tension is not adequate, or if wear is excessiveaYellow CableMounting BoltsGround Cables d- Clamp
