6Install springs and brushes into brush holdersSpread brushes and hold in place with strip of spring steel7Push in on drive end of shaft so that commutator will extend out of starter frame8Install lower end cap onto starter frame

Starter Solenoid Test
Test starter solenoid as follows: 1Disconnect all leads from solenoid terminals2Use an ohmmeter, set to scale and connect between solenoid terminals and 43Connect 12-volt supply between solenoid terminals and 2Solenoid should click and meter should read zero ohms4If meter does not read zero ohms (full continuity), replace solenoid
