Apply sealant (Special Tool NoT 8983) to threads of eight (8) 14" diameter screwsinstall and torque to 70 inIbs(80 kg cm)
screw bossesIf offset is presentreposition cap and torque screws5Installing crankcase cover to cylinder:
ADegrease parting line surfaces of both crankcase and cylinder
Turn crankshaft by hand to check lor binding It should turn easily
BApply bead of fresh sealant, (Special Tool No 8983), 10 parting line surface of cylinderCover evenly and completely and make sure sealant reaches lower main seal case and upper main bearing raceFigure 40Assemble crankcase cover to cylinder within minutes after appl ication to insure seal effecti veness
