TESTING Conduct this lesl with the motor in lest tank or on the

boat1Remove fuel pump hose from carburetor2Connect luel pressure gauge between the carburetor and fuel pump
Inspection nd Rep.lrAfter the fuel pump has been disassembledwash ali the metal parts in cleaning solvenl and inspect and repair the fol lowing:

Befor testingloosen luel tank vent on cap to release any pressure that may have bu ilt up Fue tank should not be more than 24 nches (61 em) below fuel pump
1Visually Inspect fue filter lor damage
CAUTION
Do not ipe dry lint from cloth may clog filter2Diaph agm Because 01 the relatively small volu me displaced by the flexing 01 the diaphragmthere must be no leaks in the fuel system Check diaphragm for holes, breaksor excessive stretching Hold upto light and check for pin hole leaks3Reed PlateReeds must lie flat when placed on the eed plate so when secured with screw and washer they do not have tension, which would restrict fuel flow, or stand open, which would allow fuel to flow unchecked Figure 3
