PROPELLER REMOVAL to connect the upper shift rod with the lower rodIf the coupler has not been installed properly, any shifting will be difficultc- Parts in the lower unit are worn from extended useFrozen Power head

This condition is suggested when the operator unsuccessfully attempts to crank the engine, either with hand starter or with starter motorThe flywheel will not rotateDo not assume the engine is "frozen" until the lower unit has been removed and thoroughly checkedIf the lower unit is "locked" (the drivehsaft or propeller shaft will not rotate), the power head will have the indication of being "frozen" (failure to rotate the flywheel)The first step to perform under these conditions is to "pull" the lower unit, and then again attempt to crank the engineIf the attempt is successful with the lower unit disconnected, the problem is in the lower unitIf the attempt to crank the engine is still unsuccessful, the problem is in the powerhead
