TUNING and intended operationThe correct propeller should be installed on the engine to enable operation at recommended rpmTwo rpm ranges are usually givenThe lower rpm is recommended for large, heavy slow boats, or for commercial applicationsThe higher rpm is recommended for light, fast boatsThe wide rpm range will result in greater satisfaction because of maximum performance and greater fuel economyIf the engine speed is above the recommended rpm, try higher pitch propeller or the same pitch cuppedSee Chapter for explanation of propeller terms, pitch, diameter, cupped, etcFor dual engine installation, the next higher pitch propeller may prove the most satisfactory condition for water skiing2-14 LOWER UNIT

Considerable amount of fish line entangled around the propeller shaftSome of the fish line actually melted, giving it the appearance of washer
Remove the cotter key, propeller nut, shear pin, and the propeller from the shaftCheck the propeller shaft seal to be sure it is not leakingCheck the area just forward of the seal to be sure fish line is not wrapped around the shaftOperation At Recommended RPM
