SYSTEM ANALYSIS IGNITION OUTPUT TESTS
IGNITION OUTPUT TESTS
The electrical system presents serious shock hazardAllow outboard to sit for two minutes after running before handling capacitor or 55 electrical componentsFailure to handle capacitor properly can result in uncontrolled electrical discharge and possible electrical shock to humansDO NOT handle primary or secondary ignition components while outboard is running or flywheel is turningUse the Evinrude Diagnostics software Stored Faults screen to check for current service codes before troubleshootingCorrect any problems and clear the codes FIRST
Crankshaft Position Sensor Provides EMM with input Outboard cranking speed exceeds 300 RPM
and steady CPS signal is generated
Alternator OutputSystem Voltage System voltage from EMM (whitered) provides
55 VDC to the high pressure fuel pump, the oil injection pump, the fuel injectors, and the ignition coils
Capacitor Connected to 55 circuit (whitered) to stabilize Negative
current on 55 circuit terminal of groundedcapacitor must be
