ENGINE MANAGEMENT MODULE (EMM) EXTERNAL SENSORS If code 11 is present as both Hard Fault and Stored Fault, refer to Throttle Cable Adjustment on p235If the TPS or TPS circuit fails (below 0.14 volts or above 4.92 volts), the EMM: Stores service code 12 Limits engine RPM to IDLE EMM LED 3: OFF (Cranking) EMM LED 3: ON (Running) Engine Monitor CHECK ENGINE display: ON

Crankshaft Position Sensor
The CPS is magnetic deviceIt is mounted on the throttle body, next to the flywheelRibs spaced on the flywheel mark crankshaft positionAs the ribs pass the magnetic field of the CPS, an AC voltage signal is generatedThe EMM uses this signal to identify crankshaft position and speed, generate tachometer signal, and control fuel and ignition timingIf the sensor is damaged or the signal is intermittent (10 instances), the EMM: Stores service code 16 EMM LED 3: OFF (Cranking) EMM LED 3: ON (Running) Approximate air gap between CPS and flywheel encoder ribs is .073 (1.85 mm)Use the Evinrude Diagnostics software Monitor screen to check CPS operationThe software should show an RPM reading while the outboard is crankingIf the CPS or its circuit fails, no RPM reading will appear and the outboard cannot run
