OPERATION DE-WATER PROCEDURE When the engine begins to turn freely, pull an additional 8-20 timesThis will help drain water that might be trapped in the cylindersTilt outboard to the normal running positionReplace emergency stop clip and lanyardSqueeze primer bulb several times until definite resistance is feltWith twist grip in the slowest position, pull starter handle to start engineAfter engine has run at part throttle for 10-15 seconds, turn drain valves to the RUN position
Post-Submersion Servicing
When an outboard has been submersed, it MUST be serviced before storageIf the outboard has been in salt water: Run the engine for approximately five minutes in fresh water at full operating temperatureRefer to Flushing on p60 Spray the entire engine with fresh water to remove salt depositsAfter five submersions, the flywheel must be removed and the valley between the crankshaft and the stator windings must be cleaned
